Town Administrator Tracey Stevens presented the preliminary FY26 budget at the June 11 meeting and advised the council that they will need to set the maximum millage rate at the next meeting.
Stevens recommended the town attempt to hold the current rate of 3.90 mills for FY26, noting staff is still awaiting final Florida Retirement System (FRS) rates, insurance renewals and several contract numbers that affect the final budget. The council discussed potential implications of the November ballot measure on homestead property taxes and noted pending litigation over ballot language.
Stevens said additional financial details will be provided as the missing figures are received and that the council must formally adopt a tentative millage rate at the next meeting to begin the budget process.
No formal millage rate was set at the June 11 meeting; the council will act after receiving the outstanding budget inputs.
