Planning commission recommends approval of conditional use permit to keep large accessory building on 10‑acre Hamburg Avenue lot

Rod Juston of Pinnacle Family Homes said the owner at 20010 Hamburg Avenue plans to demolish the existing house and construct a new home on the 10‑acre parcel and wants to keep a larger outbuilding. "We are currently in the process in for a building permit on 20010 Hamburg Avenue," Juston said, explaining the request to retain an outbuilding that would otherwise exceed accessory size limits in the RST‑2 district.
Planner Miss Jensen told commissioners the parcel is much larger than typical RST‑2 lots and staff had found no evidence the outbuilding required a CUP when it was originally constructed. Because the proposed new home and attached garage would cause combined accessory square footage to exceed the ordinance threshold, staff recommended approval of the conditional use permit with four stipulations and adoption of the findings of fact.
No members of the public testified at the public hearing. The commission closed the hearing and voted unanimously to recommend City Council approval. Miss Eskelson read the roll; the motion passed as presented.
