Residents urge BOSAC to add both beginner and challenging mountain-bike trails

Public commenters requested both more true-green (beginner) experiences and more challenging, natural downhill lines so riders of different skill levels have appropriate places to ride.
Teague Holmes said the town should "leverage the existing directional trails" to reduce user conflict and urged more natural, steep lines that present a challenge. Jonathan Hackman (Blue River Town Council member) and others suggested test sites on town-owned land — notably Little Mountain and a second-hump parcel east of existing hiking trails — and highlighted nearby parking and easy access as advantages. "I also think Rose Trail is fantastic idea," one commenter said in support of staff's proposals.
Speakers stressed stewardship: Becky Walter cited recent volunteer trail work and encouraged BOSAC to lean into stewardship and community partnerships to build and maintain new lines. Josh Tostado and others said separating user groups would reduce conflict and produce safer experiences for hikers and riders alike.
Commissioners acknowledged the public input and folded the comments into the matrix discussion, noting staff will continue to vet appropriate locations, stewardship plans, and user-group separation strategies.
