Council discusses ditch cleanup, transformer relocation, toilets and contractor needs

Councilmembers used part of the meeting for reports on local infrastructure and facility needs. Tony Fankhauser said a contractor is working on a ditch and expected Standpipe to be reopened by Friday; he suggested enlisting high school community-service crews to help clear narrow ditches on Garfield and to help paint crosswalks. Paul Dean said he is waiting on Evergy to remove and relocate an old transformer to the east side to allow the road to be widened so two cars can pass.
Alice Grimm reported that Freunds installed the men's restroom toilet but the correct women's toilet was not available; the city ordered a replacement and will install it when it arrives. Paul inquired whether any local contractors perform flooring replacement for bathroom floors.
