The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported at the April 1 Pine Hills Neighborhood Improvement District meeting that there have been "double digit reductions in most crimes in Pine Hills," and provided an attached Part I crime data table covering Jan. 1, 2024–Mar. 31, 2026.
The attachment shows 2,915 Part I incidents across that period and lists auto burglaries and stolen vehicles as the two highest-volume categories; together those thefts accounted for 51% of total Part I incidents in the Pine Hills box. The table gives monthly counts and a year‑to‑date comparison showing changes between 2024, 2025 and the partial 2026 period.
The sheriff’s office also provided a zone‑by‑zone breakdown to help local planners identify geographic concentrations of offenses. After the presentation, resident Kenneth Dwyer asked whether programs exist to help homeowners install security cameras; the sheriff’s office said it would check into grant options for camera installation.
The data attachment lists offense-level counts (for example, stolen‑vehicle counts shown as 55 in 2024, 100 in 2025 and 28 in the 2026 YTD column) and percent change computations for several offense types. The sheriff’s office did not announce new enforcement actions at the meeting; staff and residents were directed to the attachment for full detail and the council will note the statistics in future community safety planning.
