Safety committee reports USTA grant for tennis court resurfacing and strong summer feeding numbers

Committee chair Walter Sperling reported committee highlights including a grant secured to resurface Shelby Middle School’s tennis courts. The committee recapped that Dr. Wampler reported grant funds from the U.S. Tennis Association for over $41,000 to cover resurfacing and to add youth lines on three courts; local funds would cover the minimal matching cost.
Sperling and staff also reported summer child-nutrition and support services: the summer feeding program served more than 700 meals daily and prepared 1,100 weekly meal kits for children. The committee noted CTE summer camps and transportation staff awards at the state conference.
