Police Chief Schweitzer delivered the June report: the department recorded 34 arrests and 49 citations for the month; the dispatch center received 4,190 calls while MPD handled 1,455 calls and officers responded to 12 accidents. Chief Schweitzer also said the department conducted vape/tobacco compliance checks at 12 businesses and issued citations at two locations for sales to persons under 21.
Council members asked about enforcement related to emerging products; the chief noted state legislation and upcoming actions to address product regulation. He also said the department is pursuing potential new officer candidates and continuing required state training. "We handled 12 accidents, and the officers ordered 8 $18 hours," the chief said while reviewing the monthly data.
