Dr. Cascon opened the Holmdel Township School District's May meeting by asking administrators and principals to join him in recognizing student achievement across the district. He framed the evening as the board's annual opportunity to celebrate academic contests, arts awards and extracurricular milestones and called dozens of students to the front for photos and certificates.
Board President Reddy later presented a card and thanked departing student representative Bella Spicer, who will attend the University of Tennessee. District announcements named specific winners and teams: national and state placings in math and language arts, National Science League finalists, league-champion robotics teams and a high-school esports team that has taken two state championships in the program's first three years. "How about another round of applause for these outstanding young scholars?" Dr. Cascon said while calling winners by name.
