Superintendent Andrew Grascoiak presented two calendar options. Version 1 starts before Labor Day and would operate with a modified weekly schedule in which Fridays are off in a four-day model; version 2 adjusts in-service days differently and would extend the school year later in June. In the discussion directors cited athletics scheduling, student work availability and the value of extra professional development blocks as reasons to favor version 1.
A director moved that the board approve version 1 of the student school‑year calendar for 2026–27 (resolution 031126-6.1); another director seconded and the board approved the motion by voice vote. The chair noted remote computer participants who signaled assent were counted as yes votes.
The calendar adoption does not by itself implement a four-day week; directors emphasized that any change in the weekly instructional schedule would require separate follow-up planning and potential future action by the board.
