The West Bath School Board elected Cassandra Ward as board chair and Joanne Powers as vice chair during its November organizational meeting.
The board solicited nominations for chair, and members nominated Cassandra Ward. The nomination was seconded and approved by voice/hand vote. After the vote, the superintendent invited the newly elected chair to preside; Ward thanked colleagues and noted she felt "incredibly nervous" addressing the group but expressed appreciation for the opportunity and for the service of departing member Mr. Hein. "He was excellent," Ward said, thanking him for his years of dedication to the town and the school.
The board then moved to nominate a vice chair; Joanne Powers was nominated and approved. Chair Ward congratulated Powers and then opened the rest of the agenda. The meeting record shows members arranged committee assignments and other organizational business following the elections.
