Commissioner flags streetlights as out of compliance with town code; funding options debated

Commissioner CJ Hoyt told colleagues during the Capital Improvement Plan review that several existing streetlights are in violation of the Town Code and need to be addressed. The observation came as staff and commissioners reviewed CIP items during the June 24 budget workshop.
The board discussed the cost of bringing streetlights into compliance and explored whether restricted or other designated funds could be used to pay for repairs or replacement. Accountant Andy Tess explained classifications of town funds—restricted, committed and assigned—and how those classifications affect allowable uses for capital items.
