The City of Sweet Home Library reported May 21 that it has been awarded a digital technology grant through Business Oregon for just under $40,000 to expand its device-lending program. Library director (S5) told the advisory board the grant will reimburse purchases of new technology and that the library plans to add desktops for in-library use and loanable devices for patrons.
"This grant will reimburse us for purchases of new technology, which will be desktops for the building, some 10 laptops that we can check out, and 10 tablets that we can check out," the director said, adding that the award will also provide two desktops and two laptops for the senior center. The director said the grant will cover modest price increases between the time equipment prices were submitted and when orders are placed unless prices increase dramatically.
