Council approves library laptop-lending policy backed by new grant

The Sweet Home City Council unanimously adopted Resolution 7 (2026) to add a laptop-lending policy to the library policy manual, enabling circulation of devices purchased through a recent grant. Library Director Daisy told the council the grant will support purchase of 10 laptops and 10 tablets and that the library board reviewed and recommended the policy on April 9 and May 21.
"With a recent grant that we were awarded, one of the conditions is to have a laptop lending policy because the grant allows for the library to purchase 10 laptops and 10 tablets for circulating amongst the community," Daisy said. The council moved and seconded the recommendation and voted to amend the library policy manual to include the new lending policy by recorded unanimous vote.
The policy creates a formal framework to circulate digital devices to residents; staff said training and circulation procedures will be included in the library manual and enforced under library administration.
