The Union City Borough Council on Oct. 7 approved a slate of routine motions affecting stormwater repairs, police staffing and building upgrades.
Council voted to designate $39,060.20 from ARPA funds to cover stormwater repairs in Municipal Lot #1 and to close a catch basin in Hogan’s Alley. The meeting record shows the borough’s ARPA balance at $194,413, with $160,000 previously designated for the Willow Street Bridge.
Council also accepted the resignation of part-time Officer Rick Skonieczka (letter dated Sept. 18, 2024), approved background checks for two candidates on the civil service certified list and later approved a police contract for Zackery Shelly after an executive session. The minutes record motions and that votes “carried unanimously” where noted; one motion to change health insurance records two abstentions (Riley Cross and James Kerns) alongside the motion’s approval.
