Owensville authorizes bidding for wastewater collection rehab with $793,000 budgeted base

Archer-Elgin Engineer James Kolbe told the Board the I&I Wastewater Collection System Project will include approximately 2,469 linear feet of 8-inch SDR-35 PVC sanitary sewer pipe, precast concrete manholes and related appurtenances. "The I&I Wastewater Collection System Project consists of the construction of approximately 2,469 LF of 8\" SDR-35 PVC sanitary sewer pipe," Kolbe said, and he provided an eight-area priority list for repairs.
Kolbe said the city’s current budget for the work is $793,000 and that the full project with alternatives is approximately $1,220,000. He outlined a procurement timeline: advertise in November 2025, open bids in early December, and award the contract Dec. 15, 2025, with base-contract completion by June 2026. Alderman Lahmeyer moved to approve the recommended bid process and Alderman Bohl seconded; the motion carried without dissent.
The engineer identified eight targeted areas ranked by urgency; the Board agreed to proceed with the most urgent work under the current budget and leave other items as alternates for the 2026–27 fiscal year. The Board did not set final contractor selection criteria in this meeting; staff and the engineer will execute the advertised procurement and return with bid results for award.
