The Owensville Volunteer Fire Department told the Board of Aldermen on Oct. 6 that it was awarded a regional Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) covering radios and communications equipment. The grant award amount is $740,000; combined with a local match the total package is $777,000, and Owensville’s share of the required $37,000 match is estimated at about $12,000 to be funded from city reserves.
The Fire Chief reported the grant will supply portable radios to four participating departments; Owensville Fire Department is slated to receive approximately 33 portable units. The department also reported 336 dispatches through Oct. 3, 2025. No formal action was required of the board at the meeting; the report served to notify the board and to confirm that reserves will be used to cover the city’s match.
