Piedmont unanimously appoints Leslie Mendez as planning and building director

City staff introduced Leslie Mendez as the nominee for Piedmont’s Planning and Building Director, noting she holds a master’s degree in city and regional planning from UC Berkeley and more than 20 years of public-sector planning experience, most recently as planning manager for the City of Albany. City Administrator (staff) presented the nomination and answered council questions.
In a pre-recorded video message to the council, Leslie Mendez said, "My name is Leslie Mendez, and I am honored to have been selected for the position of planning and building director for the city of Piedmont. I'll start at the end of this month, and I look forward to seeing you all in person at the next council meeting in August." Vice Mayor moved to appoint Mendez, the motion was seconded, and the council voted unanimously to confirm the appointment.
