City says FIFA fan zone in downtown Burbank drew thousands and closed without arrests

City staff briefed the council on early results from the official FIFA fan zone held in downtown Burbank over the July 18–19 weekend, describing the event as a strong economic and community success while noting staff will complete a formal debrief once all data is collected.
"We sold 12,171 tickets over the weekend," Mary Hamzoyan of Community Development told the council, and staff highlighted activation zones that included 13 interactive booths and a family-friendly soccer activation. Hamzoyan said parking operations supported about 2,279 vehicles in seven downtown parking structures, private security teams exceeded 100 personnel, and 60 Burbank police officers were assigned across the event. From a public-safety perspective she reported "0 arrests, 0 disturbances or fights" and said EMTs provided assistance to 165 individuals while the fire department responded to 18 calls.
Council and staff framed the event as demonstrating Burbank's capacity to host major international events and to support future regional opportunities, including the LA28 Olympic events. Staff said the full post-event analysis will cover financial, traffic, public-safety, and operational lessons learned.
