Dan Smith, representing Mountainside Treatment Center, asked the North Canaan Planning and Zoning Commission for an amendment to the facility's special permit to add a 24-by-44-foot yoga room on the south side of the activities building. The commission was told there are no wetlands or setback issues identified in the application.
Zoning Enforcement Officer George Martin said the applicant has already gone through review with the Torrington Health Department and will need sign-off from the Fire Marshal before final approvals. Martin recommended moving forward with a public hearing; Commissioner Dalton Jacquier moved to hold the hearing on April 13 and Commissioner Cooper Brown seconded. The motion carried. The commission will consider public input and required agency sign-offs at the hearing.
