Zoning Administrator Joe Norman told the council the Planning Commission nominated Amanda Mackey for appointment, but Clerk Tamela Curtis explained Mackey "lives 1.1 miles north of town which is just barely outside the one-mile city limit," meaning she could be a member but would not be able to vote. The council discussed updating the zoning ordinance to reflect the Planning Commission’s new meeting location (first Tuesday at the Cornerstone Building).
Norman also said he would resign as Zoning Administrator if his wife, Emily Norman, is elected mayor, citing a potential conflict of interest; he added that Ms. Mackey has considered taking over the Zoning Administrator role but has not decided. Council asked staff to address how to handle an administrative vacancy should Norman resign.
