Local preservationists to present at statewide conference; council asked to help outreach to contributing property owners

Members of the Landmark Commission reported progress on walking maps, archival materials and a presentation they will give at the Preservation Alliance of West Virginia conference on May 14. The session, described as 90 minutes, will be free for the town-hosted session and will include an introduction to the town's history, success stories of restorations and a segment on endangered properties.
The commission asked staff to reach out to owners of contributing structures so they are aware they may be discussed at the conference presentation. "The topic is essentially our historic preservation efforts, town history, the things that have shaped the town... and then some successful stories of structures that have been rehabbed and saved," the representative said. Speakers for the session include Terry Golden and local HLC members; the commission recommended posting details to the town website and Facebook to allow property owners and the public to attend.
