A cemetery corporation meeting drew strong volunteer interest to restore and research headstones, improve records, coordinate events, and assist with cleanup at Greenway Cemetery. Organizers said 14 people attended the organizing meeting, another 14 contacted them afterward, and committees formed to handle headstone restoration, records research, fundraising and events. "We have eight people that have committed to that, that wanna be actively involved" in headstone restoration, a volunteer leader said.
Council members praised the turnout and discussed fundraising options tied to historic properties, with one council member offering personal support for monument maintenance. Organizers said they will coordinate with the Morgan County Historical and Genealogical Society and keep meetings targeted to volunteer tasks rather than broad presentations.
