The Town of Bath council voted to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Wharton County/Berkeley Springs Chamber of Commerce to permit road closures and town services for the annual Apple Butter Festival, set to run Friday through Sunday.
Terry Beard, introduced to the council as the Chamber president, outlined plans for expanded entertainment and vendor operations and asked for the council—s approval of the MOU. "We are expanding our hours on Saturday nights... we're gonna be open till 09:00 this year on a Saturday night," Beard said, noting that the beer garden will host the headline act while bluegrass and family-oriented programming will remain in the park.
Council member (speaker 5) moved to approve the MOU and a councilor seconded; the motion passed by voice vote. After the approval, Beard raised a supply concern: frost damaged some apple trees this season and might affect apple butter vendors, singling out Glass Cox as a key local supplier the Chamber is monitoring.
Organizers said vendor bookings are more than halfway full and that enhancements to the food-truck alley and entertainment lineup aim to boost weekend revenue for local businesses. The council offered no conditions on the MOU and the assembly approved the motion on the floor.
