Resident requests permission to install raised flower box on town curbside

Gene Bellinger, who identified himself as a resident at 20 Union Street, told the council he would like to put "a flower box in front of the house" on town-owned curbside and would maintain it himself. "It is town property," Bellinger said, describing three 6-by-6 posts forming an 8-foot-wide box and saying "I'll keep it filled with dirt and mulch and whatever and keep it."

Council members thanked Bellinger for the beautification idea but asked him to provide a written rendering so staff can keep the proposal on file and confirm setbacks and height. Mayor/Chair (role) and staff said the conceptual plan raised no immediate objections but emphasized following the town process: "Provide just something in writing with a rendering of what you're thinking about doing just so we have it on file," the Mayor/Chair said. The council directed staff to prepare a form and review the drawing with public works before any installation begins.
