Council adopts first 2026 budget amendment, adds $35,000 for digital reader boards

Finance Director Kristen Reed presented Ordinance 2841, the city’s first budget amendment for 2026. Reed said she made small edits between first and second readings, including adding $35,000 for two digital reader boards, funded from the street fund and allocated across funds consistent with IT budgeting percentages. She cautioned that Fund 35 (Facilities Fund) will have a reserve balance below the city’s reserve policy as a result of the amendment.
The finance-and-technology committee supported the amendment and the council approved Ordinance 2841 on second reading by voice vote. Reed and staff are available for follow-up questions, and committee members requested no additional changes at the meeting.
