Councilors discussed recent fraudulent activity on a town checking account at WesBanco and the bank's recommended ACH, check and payee Positive Pay protection at an estimated $20 per month per account. Council considered the service for all 22 town accounts but expressed concern about cost and the possibility of lost local B&O tax revenue if the town banks outside municipal limits.
Councilor Charlene Louk moved to decline the WesBanco Positive Pay service at this time and revisit the decision if fraud reoccurs; Councilor Karen Phillips seconded the motion and it passed by unanimous roll call.
