Heritage Pines board approves $19,200 pond-algae contract with Premier Lakes

The Heritage Pines Community Development District Board voted unanimously Oct. 15 to approve a $19,200 pond-algae treatment contract with Premier Lakes, citing an annual savings of roughly $3,200 compared with the prior SOLitude contract.
District Manager Chuck Adams presented the proposal and said that, if approved, he would initiate SOLitude's 30-day termination so Premier Lakes would begin service on Dec. 1, 2024. Resident Susan Napolitano asked what chemical SOLitude uses; Adams said SOLitude applies a copper-based product targeted at algae and that the odor residents noticed is a result of algae degasification that lasts a couple of days. The motion to approve the Premier Lakes proposal was made by Supervisor Michael Walsh, seconded by Supervisor Carol Vaughan, and carried with all in favor.
Adams said the Premier Lakes contract represents an overall annual cost savings and that the Premier Lakes report will include more detailed pond-treatment information. The board also noted Item 3 from its to-do list (requesting that SOLitude identify treated ponds) will be addressed in the Premier Lakes reporting.
