Elijah Kersey introduced himself at the Rangely Town Council meeting: "I'm Elijah Kersey. We are sharing our experience as college students," and described adjusting to life away from home while competing in basketball and pursuing an associate of science degree. He said travel with the team built strong bonds and taught mental toughness.
Jameer Todd identified himself as "a sophomore at CNCC from Denver, Colorado studying business" and focused on concrete student strategies: time management, sleep routines for early morning classes, resisting procrastination, and the importance of studying and networking. Both presenters emphasized mental-health coping techniques and career preparation, telling council members that the small-town community helped them find support.
Council members asked about future plans and how Rangely compared with expectations; Elijah said he initially expected loneliness but had since made friends and aimed to continue playing basketball while training for a career in physical therapy. The council encouraged further community engagement and thanked the students for their presentation.
