LakeFest returns: fireworks Friday, Uncle Cracker concert Saturday and volunteer call

Mark Schreiber, LakeFest chairman, told the board that LakeFest will include 16 events across the Pine and Stone Clear Lake park system, with Friday fireworks and a Saturday headliner concert featuring Uncle Cracker. Schreiber said the Friday fireworks are a change from past years and that the event will include food trucks, a beer garden and free youth admissions for 100 children through the Park Foundation.
Schreiber asked for volunteers to help with parking and gate operations and noted temporary street closures the weekend of the festival for a 5K race and for pedestrian routing during the fireworks. “We do ask the police to usually close off Truesdale just temporarily to allow for people to walk back and forth from the Clear Lake shoreline and back,” he said. He encouraged city employees to volunteer and directed residents to laportelakefest.com for passes and volunteer signups.
The board expressed appreciation for the planning and logistics support that city departments will provide during the event.
