The motion also authorized corporate counsel to execute necessary documents. The motion was seconded; after a short discussion noting the property's long history and development context the motion carried by voice vote.
Council members described the parcel as a narrow strip adjacent to a landfill and existing business operations, and said the sale would place the parcel with an owner able to make productive use of it. The council characterized the action as advancing a master-plan vision for development along the Housatonic River.
