Town manager updates on East Entrance grant, Sagewood lot closing and a pending developer offer

Alan, the town manager, briefed the council on a suite of town projects and grants. He said grant applications for the East Entrance — primarily to fund concrete blocks at the entrance — have been submitted and the town is awaiting confirmation from the state. He also reported that CHFA’s purchase of the Sagewood lots is closed, with only recording of documents pending.
"The grants that we've been working on for the East Entrance has been submitted and we're just waiting for the rest of that to come back together," Alan said. He added that a $5,000,000 grant the town has pursued is complicated and staff are exploring design-build and consultant options to make the project acceptable to funding agencies.
Alan said a developer (referred to as Andy) expects to submit a formal offer later in the week to develop several town lots, likely with several 3-bedroom, 2-bath starter homes. He characterized the expected houses as modest entry-level units and said the town has a few lots it could consider selling to facilitate the project.
Alan also noted a new contract proposal from the building official; he said the contract is under review and will be brought to the council for fuller consideration at a future meeting.
