Senator Carrie Semleroth (District 17) introduced House Bill 593 as a Doge Task Force code-cleanup measure. She told the committee the bill removes obsolete definitions and references, repeals sections establishing a State Hazardous Waste Management Planning Committee that was active in the 1980s, and amends language tied to older permits, plans and the Big Payette Lake Water Quality Act. Semleroth said these cleanup bills are not policy-related and asked the committee to send HB 593 to the floor with a do-pass recommendation.
Senator Blaylock moved to send HB 593 to the floor and Senator Shippey seconded; the committee approved the motion by voice vote. The bill was presented as historical housekeeping — retaining historical records where requested by a nonprofit but otherwise removing obsolete sections — and will move to the Senate floor for consideration.
