The Ponce Inlet Town Council on May 14 approved engineering design plans for the South Peninsula Drive sidewalk mobility project, directing staff to include contractor phasing, resident notifications, driveway-access protections and parking accommodations in the bid package. Planning & Development Director Mr. Lear and Volusia County Engineer Tadd Kasbeer presented the revised plans and project timeline.
The project design limits tree removals to one live oak and 21 palm trees and shifts the construction starting point from Lighthouse Drive to Oceanway Drive to address stormwater concerns. Councilmembers discussed potential drainage changes tied to a planned Lighthouse Association parking expansion and noted that changes could trigger additional permitting. Councilmember Villanella moved to approve the engineering design plans; Councilmember White seconded the motion and it passed 5-0.
