Committee member praises downtown improvements, urges housing focus

"I am extremely grateful that the EDG has Brett Holter in place right now," the committee member said, adding that recent work has helped attract businesses such as Wildflower and Whiskey to the downtown block.
The committee member said revitalization has been deliberate rather than immediate: "It doesn't happen overnight," they said, describing a sequence of flowers, lights and building repairs aimed at signaling change to potential investors. They also noted the alley adjacent to a recently acquired property is now owned by Superior Oil and that a legal description is still required before recording the transfer.
Although the commission discussed multiple projects behind the scenes, the committee member said many are not ready for formal RDC action and that staff will continue to refine proposals. No substantive votes on development projects occurred at the meeting. The session ended with routine adjournment and an announcement that the next meeting will be held August 28.
