Staff recommended awarding contracts 1–3 to construct a new 7,200-square-foot Public Works storage building and presented the board with bid ranges and alternates. Staff explained the base bids ranged roughly from $693,185 to $899,592 and that including recommended alternates and the compound curing the current recommendation totals $877,085. The staff presentation said alternates for fencing and gates would be removed from the contract and procured separately later.
The board moved and seconded the recommendation and approved the award on a roll-call vote. Staff identified contract winners in the recommendation letter: Contract 1 low bidder (AK Peterschime or Schein Builders LLC), Contract 2 (Trivet Contracting) and Contract 3 (KC Mechanical Service). Staff noted that contract 2 and 3 each had only a single bidder and that, while prices may not have been fully competitive, awarding all three contracts is necessary to complete the building as specified. No appeal or protest was recorded at the meeting.
