Council votes to accept Heather Lane into parish maintenance after subdivision builds five homes

The Tangipahoa Parish Council voted Jan. 26 to accept Heather Lane in the Heather Place Subdivision into the Parish Maintenance System for District 6. The motion, made by Councilman Joey Mayeaux and seconded by Councilman Buddy Ridgel, passed on a roll call vote with Councilman David Vial absent.
The record notes Heather Place Subdivision's two-year maintenance period began Sept. 25, 2006, and that on Sept. 22, 2008 the parish engineer recommended not accepting the subdivision until at least two residences were built. The minutes state the subdivision now contains five residences and the road still meets parish standards required for acceptance.
The minutes do not list specific maintenance start dates under parish responsibility or identify the contractor or funds to be used for future maintenance. Acceptance places Heather Lane on the parish maintenance list and shifts responsibility for upkeep to parish road crews.
