Board awards Waterbury South bid, authorizes Hwy 12 bid advertisement and advances road transfers

The Dixon County Board of Supervisors moved forward on several road and bridge matters on July 14, awarding the Waterbury South Project to JMN Construction and authorizing the County Clerk to solicit bids for the Highway 12 intersection east of Newcastle.
Supervisor Steve Hassler moved, seconded by Neil Blohm, to award the Waterbury South bid to JMN Construction of Valley, Nebraska; the motion passed on a unanimous roll call. The board also authorized advertising for bids for the Highway 12 intersection (motion by Deric Anderson, seconded by Steve Hassler). Engineer and PT Road Superintendent Brian McDonald updated the board that the Allen North Project one‑year warranty expires Aug. 13, 2026, and that the one‑year warranty for the 861 and 588 Improvements Project expires July 29, 2026.
Separately, the board discussed improvements to the One & Six Year Road and Bridge Plan, including revising the county utility permit application to require insurance and bonding. Supervisor Neil Blohm made a motion, seconded by Deric Anderson, to offer the remaining north portion of 576 Avenue (Cedar County line between 884 & 886 Roads) to Hooker Township; that motion carried unanimously.
