The Board of Public Works voted April 3 to accept Genesis' low bid of $92,410 to replace furnaces and condensers at the Cemetery Administration Building. Staff said the project was rebid after receiving no bids on the first attempt; only one contractor responded on the second solicitation and the low bid exceeded the earlier estimate. Finance staff indicated carryover funds could cover the difference.
Board members asked whether garage staff could perform the work, and staff noted the ductwork scope is substantial and accounts for much of the cost. Joe Piper moved to approve the award and the motion carried after discussion; Kevin Riley commented that acting now could avoid future price increases despite concerns about limited bidder interest and the over-budget amount.
