The Jemez Springs Village Council discussed a slate of capital projects on June 16, including bridge work, park planning, library improvements and a River Walk gazebo bid process that exceeded available funds.
Mayor Michael Nealeigh said an RFP for engineering services for the South Mooney Bridge replacement has been published with a July 6 submission deadline. The village submitted Transportation Project Fund applications for $700,000 for North Mooney Bridge plan and design and $110,648 for a park entrance plan and design. The council also noted a tractor delivery scheduled for mid‑July and a library entrance project kickoff meeting set for June 18 at 11:00 a.m.; library HVAC interior units and an exterior inverter compressor have been installed with the original ducted unit kept as a backup. Initial River Walk Gazebo bids exceeded the $100,000 budget by approximately $40,000 and a revised scope and second bid opening still produced bids above the capital outlay budget, leading the mayor to conclude a covered stone circle may be beyond the current grant scope.
