Residents ask council for microphone upgrades and raise safety concerns about sidewalk bicycle rule

During the public-comment period, Walter Mullins thanked the council and said he was concerned about the ordinance banning bicycles on city sidewalks. "I understand the concerns of having them on sidewalks in the downtown area but feel it is the safest place for a bicyclist to be as you go 219 North towards Walmart," Mullins said. Police Chief Christopher Teubert responded that enforcement has been handled on a case-by-case basis and that pedestrian safety drives enforcement decisions.
DeEtta Hunter asked the council to provide microphones for council members and visitors; City Manager Misty Hill said the audio system needs updates and that audio improvements are planned in the next budget. Hunter also described a past-due water-bill issue for a property she sold and said she had written "property sold" on the bill; she was told by Public Service Commission regulations that to end service a formal Discontinuation of Service form must be filed with the city.
