Mayor Nidy reports bookmobile outreach, former mayor's death and ethics training reminder

Mayor Russ Nidy briefed the council on several community and administrative items at the May 14 meeting. He said he visited County Commissioner Flores’ new office open house and discussed scheduling the County Library Bookmobile to visit Town Hall once a month; the council authorized him to pursue the idea.
Nidy announced former Mayor Peter Maly died on May 9 and said the family will make a charity contribution in lieu of flowers. He also reminded all town officials to complete the Palm Beach County Ethics refresher training and provide certificates to the Clerk for submission to the County Ethics Commission.
The mayor additionally described meeting with property owners at 1400 Southern Boulevard about possible development; he said the owners had again discussed a prior proposal to buy Town Hall and offer space, but the mayor reiterated the council previously rejected that option and asked for a formal plan if the owners want the council to reconsider it.
