Board members asked how discipline procedures will work under Senate Bill 199. District leaders told the board the administrative team discussed the bill during the retreat, developed a process for classroom teachers to follow and received a state guidance document the morning of Aug. 11 that includes a flowchart and standard forms for use by schools.
Superintendent and instructional staff said the guidance clarifies steps for removals from class and subsequent actions, and that parent notification and entry into the state reporting system will be part of the process. "We just received this morning a state guidance document," a district official said, adding the document contains a flowchart and forms to support consistent implementation; board members requested a future meeting walkthrough of the new process.
