The board reviewed a petition from the Summer Lake Irrigation District requesting a whole‑water-body slow/no‑wake restriction on Anna (Anarizwa) Reservoir over bank-erosion and safety concerns. Phil Hedsmith, boating policy and environmental coordinator, said initial public comments included both support and opposition, but more recent outreach indicated the majority of local respondents opposed the restriction because the reservoir provides limited alternative motorized access in the region.
Staff also consulted local law enforcement, which reported increased presence but no documented conflicts between boaters and anglers. After staff recommended denial, a motion to deny the petition passed by voice vote. Board members asked staff to pursue boater‑education outreach in the summer and to coordinate with law enforcement on safety and signage.
