District secures grant and vendor for building maps and announces $30,000 camera grant for Blue Ridge

“As Joyce mentioned … DATAMARK came in at a cost to do all of our schools of $66,304.11,” a district speaker said, and staff reported they had obtained state grant funding to cover the mapping project. The mapping work will include interior walkthroughs with high‑speed cameras and exterior door renumbering so 9‑1‑1 responders can be given consistent door identifiers.
Board members asked about procurement and competition; administration said DATAMARK was selected through a state contract/cooperative purchasing agreement and therefore did not require a separate district bid. Questions about traffic and bus routing near Shepherdstown Elementary were addressed by operations staff, who said buses will use the Pike rather than Gardener’s Lane and that road‑widening would be an issue for the Department of Highways rather than the district.
Administration said camera installations and cabling are in process for the Blue Ridge grant; staff signed purchase orders and work is underway.
