The board accepted the district recommendation to award the Washington High outdoor facilities and restroom project to Tim Hazlett Construction for $310,000, after considering a competing $437,000 bid from Mangini’s General Contracting.
Operations staff presented both bids and recommended Tim Hazlett. A board member raised concerns that an online license lookup did not show an active license for one bidder as of Aug. 4; staff replied that bidders must demonstrate a valid license in their bid documentation and that the district will verify licensing and other contract requirements before executing any contract. "When we sign a contract, we'll verify everything again," Miss White said.
A motion to accept Tim Hazlett’s bid was made and seconded; one board member abstained because of insufficient information. The chair announced the motion passed. Staff said they would not execute a contract if licensing or other required documentation was missing and would bring the item back under unfinished business if execution had to be withheld.
