Board members pressed staff for the total number of houses and specific projected student counts; staff did not have a hard number at the meeting and agreed to follow up. Several board members said that lacking firm house and student projections they would abstain from the vote; the motion passed with recorded abstentions and the board asked staff to provide precise projections before future adjustments.
The board framed the change as proactive planning so future residents in that new development will feed to the same elementary school rather than creating piecemeal feeder patterns.
