The Atchison City Commission approved six items on the consent agenda. Clinton McNamee presented the items: approval of minutes from the January 5 meeting; an occupational license for Rainey's Arcade; authorization for staff to submit the proposed airport capital improvement plan to the Federal Aviation Administration; payment of $39,453 to Banner Fire Equipment for 10 sets of firefighting personal protective equipment (a grant of $13,453 reduces the net city cost); approval of the 2026 workers' compensation insurance with the Kansas Municipal Insurance Trust (quote around $264,197, about 15% down from last year); and approval of a $5,910 change order to complete installation of the South Tower booster pump at the water treatment plant.
The mayor called for a motion, which was made and seconded, and the commission approved the consent agenda by voice vote. Commissioners briefly highlighted the workers' compensation reduction and staff noted the equipment and contract items were budgeted within existing plans.
