At the Oct. 15 meeting’s public-comment period, resident Mike Tomak of 418 Broadway told council he had "concerns about the condition of the property at 1010 Vermont Avenue" and alleged that people there were "burning wires and stuff and the smell is horrible," adding that tarps surround the property so neighbors cannot see what is happening. Borough staff did not record an immediate enforcement action at the meeting; council members heard the report and did not vote on code enforcement measures at that time.
Resident Betty Kaczka asked what happened to the US Steel money. Borough Manager Elaina Skiba responded that she would provide Kaczka with a breakdown of how those funds were spent. The minutes do not include further explanation of the US Steel funds or the timeline for providing the breakdown.
