Councilman Angelo Norelli reported an extended update on the borough’s sewer and wastewater work at the Oct. 15 Glassport Borough Council meeting. He said contractor Edge AI is continuing to televise 22 miles of borough sewers and that "the cost of this project is $290,400." The contractor has encountered a 10-foot crushed sewer segment and limited access to some manholes, which Public Works crews are addressing.
Norelli also reported that the diffuser-replacement project at the sewage plant is nearly complete and that the bypass for the aeration tank "went smoothly." Separately, Council announced the channeling-wall replacement at the Waste Water Treatment Plant was advertised in the Mon Valley Independent on Sept. 25, with bids to be opened Oct. 18 in Council Chambers and the project planned to be awarded Nov. 19.
Why it matters: the televising work and channeling-wall project are part of the borough’s continued effort to address sewer infrastructure problems and long-term control planning. The televising will identify locations requiring repair or access improvement; the channeling-wall project is a capital repair that will proceed through the advertised-bid process. No contract awards for channeling-wall work were reported at the meeting.
Council did not take additional formal action on the televising contract at the Oct. 15 meeting; project status updates and the advertised schedule for the channeling-wall bid were informational items presented during committee reports.
