Jacob explained that option A would be visible from the street and likely require a variance, while options B and C sit to the rear and would remove less historic fabric. Staff told the DRC the proposed additions range from about "78 to 207 square feet or 4 to 11% of the historic footprint," and that options B and C would involve the least removal of historic material.
Commissioners praised the applicant's alternatives study and said option C—extending an existing enclosed porch footprint—felt like a balanced solution if budget allowed. Several commissioners requested elevation details, window reuse information and roof‑tie sections; staff asked the applicant to bring window samples and clarify which existing windows can be reused.
